The Mission of the Morgan Local School District is to provide the opportunity for all students to achieve the skill required to work productively, live successfully, and be a contributing member of society. We will work as partners with each student, the student's family, business and industry, and the community to meet the needs of each child.
Morgan Local School District, consisting of three K-6 elementary schools, one junior high school (Grades 7-8) and a comprehensive high school (Grades 9-12), is nestled between Zanesville and Marietta on the scenic Muskingum River. Incorporating all of Morgan County's 421 square miles, the Morgan school District is, in terms of physical size, the third largest district in Ohio. However, it is predominantly rural with small communities scattered over the countryside and a population of approximately fourteen thousand people.
Despite its small population base, Morgan County offers a variety of special educational programs and a pay/benefits package that compares favorably with other schools in the area. Morgan County provides an opportunity to live and teach in a small-town atmosphere; however, people living there are within easy driving distance of several larger towns with their shopping malls and cultural activities. Socially, Morgan County has many clubs and organizations for adults and activities like Scouting and Little League for the younger people. All that, coupled with the quiet life of the country/rural community, makes Morgan County an ideal place to teach, live, and raise a family.
