Athletic Trainer
About
Meet the Athletic Trainer
In the summer of 2022, Morgan Local School District made a big improvement in the development of their athletic program- hiring Rachel Kesterson, a full time Athletic Trainer. A 2022 graduate from Wilmington College, Kesterson is Morgan’s first full time athletic trainer.
Rachel Kesterson is from Pomeroy, Ohio, and graduated from Meigs High School. An athlete herself, she played volleyball, softball, and basketball. Growing up on a farm where she raised cattle and sheep, Kesterson was also involved in 4-H with the Busy Beavers 4-H club.
Earning a bachelor's degree of science in athletic training, Kesterson has had plenty of experience leading up to her current position. At Wilmington College she worked alongside all of Wilmington’s sports teams, as well as completing clinical rotations in Physical Therapy Clinics, Chiropractic Clinics, Orthopedic Offices, and Urgent Care. Kesterson also worked with multiple high schools and has sat in on many surgeries. Her longest clinical rotation occurred at Fox Hollow Rodeo in Southwest Ohio, where she worked with medical staff.
Kesterson is Morgan’s first full time Athletic Trainer. She is essentially starting the program from the ground up, and stated, “From creating the policies and procedures to getting to design the Athletic Training Room, I get to be the first and I get to set an example for the school district through my career here.” This was something that interested Kesterson the most when being hired at Morgan. She also expressed she loves working with young adult athletes, saying, “The things the kids do now can affect the rest of their lives and if I can make a difference in that for them, then I am doing the job that I was intended to do. I want the best for all of the kids.”
With the help of Rachel Kesterson, Morgan High School’s new athletic trainer, Morgan hopes to continue to improve the state of their athletic programs and help their young athletes thrive.
